Dr. Jamil's research interests include the impact of environmental exposure (work and home) on the health and wellbeing of new Americans (immigrants and refugees) in particular Arab/Chaldean people. He is also engaged in studies of the health effects from tobacco and waterpipe (hookah), and means to counteract the spread of waterpipe smoking among adolescents.

Dr. James Harold Clarke is Professor of the Practice of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Vanderbilt University. He is a Board Certified Environmental Scientist (BCES) by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists and a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. He received his Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland in Theoretical Physical Chemistry. Dr. Clarke served on the National Academy of Science Committees on Remediation of Buried and Tank Waste and Tritium Releases from Nuclear Power Plants. He has over 45 years of professional experience with approximately 250 publications and presentations. Dr. Clarke's research interests are in the areas of sustainable and resilient environmental protection, nuclear environmental engineering, environmental risk analysis and performance assessment, the investigation, remediation and long-term management of contaminated sites, and the environmental consequences of energy choices.
