Prof. Yucang Liang is a Senior Scientist in the Department of Chemistry of Eberhard Karls University of Tubingen, Germany. He earned his PhD degree in Material Science from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2005. After finishing his two-year postdoctorateand working as a researcher on Nano process and Application of Nano catalysts for three years at the University of Bergen in Norway. Prof. Liang joined the present university in 2010 and independently developed his research. Prof. Liangsresearch interests focus on the preparation, characterization and surface modification of the nano-structured inorganic materials with designed topologies and shapes as well as controlled particle sizes. These inorganic materials include biocompatible monodispersive(non)porous silica nanospheres, the functionalized core-shell structured mesoporous silica nanospheres, quantum dots, and metal/metal oxide nanoscale materials with special chemical and physical properties. Their applications are concentrated on biomedicine, environment and catalysis, as well as the preparationof membrane for the applications in antireflective, antifogging, water treatment and nanofilltration.

Prof. Kim has been involved at GIST since 1997 and working on the projects in the field of the remediation and monitoring of contaminated soil/ground water from Southeast Asia countries including Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. His current research focuses on the development of safe drinking water filtration systems especially for the disaster areas caused from climate change such as South Pacific region (e.g. Fiji and Tuvalu) and Mongolia. He has got his Ph.D at the Centre for Environmental Technology at Imperial College London in the UK and MSc & BSc at the Department of Petroleum & Mineral Engineering from Seoul National University in Korea.

He serves as an Associate Professor of Radiology at the Institute of Cell Engineering, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as well as is affiliated at the Mossakowski Medical Research Centre, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland. He is mainly interested in precision of stem cell and drug delivery under image guidance primarily within central nervous system using minimally invasive intra-arterial and intraventricular routes. Dr. John Zhanhu Guo is an Associate Professor in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His current research interests are in the areas of optical, electric, magnetic and dielectric materials for flame retardancy, microwave absorption, catalysis, sensing, nano-kinetics, and electronics. Dr. Guo earned his Ph.D degree in chemical engineering from Louisiana State University in 2005. He received his three-year (2005–2008) postdoctoral training in mechanical and aerospace engineering at the University of California Los Angeles. Dr. Guo directs the Integrated Composites Laboratory and Chairs the Composite Division of American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE, 2010–2011). Before joining UTK, Dr. Guo worked as an Assistant/Associate Professor of chemical engineering at Lamar University. The current laboratory focuses on the fundamental studies behind the multifunctional nanocomposites for energy harvesting, environmental remediation, pollutants treatment and recycling, safety, sensing, and electromagnetic wave treatments (radiation) and applications (heating resources).
