Dr. Steven Ross Murray was born and reared in Tennessee, USA. He studied health and physical education at Berea College in Berea, Kentucky, USA, and later earned his bachelor's degree from the University of North Alabama (BS 1991) in physical education.
Dr. Steven Ross Murray was born and reared in Tennessee, USA. He studied health and physical education at Berea College in Berea, Kentucky, USA, and later earned his bachelor's degree from the University of North Alabama (BS 1991) in physical education. He took his master's and doctoral degrees from Middle Tennessee State University (MS 1993, DA 1996) in wellness and fitness and physical education, respectively. Dr. Murray is currently a Professor of Kinesiology and former Head of the Department of Kinesiology and former Acting Dean of the School of Business and Professional Studies at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado. Before joining the faculty at Colorado Mesa University (formerly Mesa State College) in 1998, he worked for Cumberland University in Tennessee as a grant procurer and administrator and was on faculty at Lander University in South Carolina in the Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science. Dr. Murray is the author of Wellness for Life (Kendall Hunt Publishing Company, 2015, 3rd edition, 2012) and Fitness Walking (Kendall Hunt Publishing Company, 2009). In addition to his books, he has published numerous articles in academic journals and other periodicals, including Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, Nikephoros: Zeitschrift für Sport und Kultur im Altertum, Palamedes: A Journal of Ancient History, The Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine, Journal of Athletic Training, The Physical Educator, The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, andThe Physician and Sportsmedicine. He has been a reviewer, contributing editor, editor-in-chief, and invited referee for several publishing companies and academic journals. Lastly, he is an avid runner and sportsman, and he has completed over 100 multi-sport events, including IRONMAN® triathlons. The research interests of Dr. Murray center around physical activity and wellness. He studies sport in the ancient world, especially ancient Greece and Rome. Other interests involve athletic injuries, recovery modalities, and fitness testing.

Dr. Bullock is an Clinical Professor of Community Health and a research epidemiologist in ocular diseases. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Medical School, class of 1968. Bullock was an intern in internal medicine at Washington University in St. Louis before serving as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy. After residency training in ophthalmology at Yale University, he completed fellowships at the University of California, San Francisco, and the Mayo Clinic. He received a Master of Science degree in Microbiology and Immunology from Wright State University and an MPH from Harvard in 2003. He completed additional training from the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, the CDC in Atlanta, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and the Pasteur Institute in Paris. He held a clinical faculty position at Stanford University before coming to Wright State, where he served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology, Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology, and was named the Brage Golding Distinguished Professor of Research. As a Professor of Physiology and Biophysics, he investigated and published numerous papers concerning a variety of ocular injuries. He also was a lecturer in Law and Medicine at the University of Dayton School of Law. Dr. Bullock is the author or co-author of more than 240 scientific publications. His research influenced the market withdrawal of two general anesthetics, a warning label for a pharmaceutical agent whose inappropriate use resulted in blindness, and a Consumer Products Safety Commission-mandated warning label. He attained Fellowship status from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and the American College of Epidemiology. In 2011 he received the Outstanding Scientific Project Award from the Vision Care Section of the American Public Health Association. He has numerous inventions and has received teaching awards, copyrights, and trademarks. He has given more than 500 lectures throughout the world, a number of which were distinguished named lectureships, and was President and Secretary-Treasurer of two international ophthalmological societies. He has served as a consultant to the National Institutes of Health, the Hospital Albert Schweitzer in Haiti, the U.S. Veteran’s Administration, the U.S. Air Force, the American Medical Association, and the Harvard-Hsiao Resource-Based Relative Value Study. He practiced ophthalmology in the Dayton, Ohio area for over 25 years, served on the editorial boards of 24 medical journals (including Nature [Scientific Reports / Public Health]), has been recognized as “One of Ohio’s Finest Citizens” by the Ohio House of Representatives, and was listed in a “Best Doctors in America” publication. For the last ten years, Dr. Bullock has been quoted in The New York Times and published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

He diagnosed and treated several musculoskeletal and neurological disorders. He has developed two new directions in the field of Physical Therapy. The first direction is a technique called Dynamic Scapular Recognition Exercise to reduce the shrug sign usually develops in patients with frozen shoulder. The second one is targeting the proprioceptors as sensory receptors of muscle fatigue to decrease the incidence of muscle fatigue. The third one is using the passive cable theory to decrease the hypersensitivity of nociceptors commonly presents in patients with chronic pain.
