Dr. Mao has published ~200 papers: 200 journal including Nature, Science, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Materials in the area of (1) new glasses discovery from pure metals through ultrafast liquid quenching; (2) deformation, phase transformation and chemical reaction under in-situ transmission electron microscope (TEM) for metals and metallic glasses; (3) deformation on nanocrystalline materials; (4) in-situ electrochemical lithiation process in lithium-ion battery.

Dr. Kaufui Vincent Wong authored 2 text-books on Thermodynamics, one on Intermediate Heat Transfer, and one on Climate Change. He holds two patents. He has received awards for teaching and mentoring students. Dr. Kaufui Vincent Wong has served on the UM Graduate Council for 3 terms, and elected Faculty Senator for one. He is active in the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and has held many leadership positions, including Chair of the Advanced Energy Systems Division, and Deputy Group Leader of the Energy Group. He is a life Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aerospace and Astronautics. Dr. Ashutosh Tiwari is the Director of IRG2 of the University of Utah’s NSF Materials Research Science & Engineering Center (MRSEC) and Associate Professor in Department of Materials Science & Engineering at University of Utah. He received his Ph.D. in Low Temperature Condensed Matter Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in the year 2000. Immediately after submitting his dissertation, Dr. Tiwari started working on NASA sponsored He3-He4 superfluidity experiments near the tri-critical point at the University of Delaware. Those experiments were performed in collaboration with Jet Propulsion Laboratory and important findings were documented in NASA's Document#D-21522. In 2001, Dr. Tiwari moved to North Carolina State University to join NSF Center for Advanced Materials and Smart Structures (NSF-CAMSS) as a Research Scientist. In 2005, Dr. Tiwari joined the University of Utah as an Assistant Professor of Materials Science & Engineering. In 2010, he was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure. In 2014, Dr. Tiwari was appointed as the Director of the Spintronics IRG of the University of Utah's NSF-MRSEC. Dr. Tiwari has received several awards including NSF CAREER Award, IAAM medal and TMS Young leader award. Dr Shouxun Ji is currently a Reader at Brunel University London. He is focusing on the development and understanding the fundamental mechanisms of lightweight materials and structures for the automotive industry and other industrial sectors, including purpose developed aluminium and magnesium alloys with improved ductility, strength (at ambience and elevated temperatures), modulus and thermal conductivity, and the hybrid structures using different materials and different joining techniques. He is also working on new materials and structures for aerospace application, such as materials for explosive cords and high strength casting materials for aircraft. Recently, he worked with world leading company to develop magnesium alloys for engine application in powered tools, which requires improved strength and thermal conductivity at room temperature and at elevated temperatures. Dr. Ji have experience on semi-solid metal processing of rheo-die casting, rheo-extrusion and rheo-twin roll casting. His previous works also included cast irons (spheroidal graphite cast iron and austempered ductile iron) and copper alloys. Dr Ji has published more than 140 papers in the peer-reviewed scientific Journals and more than 20 international patents. Dr. Ji is the member of three ISO technical committee and one BSI technical committee. He is also the editorial member of three scientific journals. He received the innovation award from CMF UK in 2017.
