What Constitutes Elemental Shape Information for Biological Vision?

Authors: Ernest Greene and Onyinye Onwuzulike

Abstract: The part itself would be seen not as a "part" of some earlier figure but as a self-sufficient whole in its own right Friedrich Wulf. We do not yet understand how the vertebrate visual system provides for recognition of objects.

A Hybrid Flower Pollination and Genetic Algorithm for Minimizing the Non-Convex Potential Energy of Molecular Structure

Authors: Mohamed A Tawhid and Ahmed F Ali

Abstract: Minimizing the molecular potential energy function is a real-life problem which can help to predict the three-dimensional structure of the protein by knowing its steady state of the molecules. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid algorithm by combining the flower pollination algorithm and the genetic algorithm in order to minimize a simplified model of the energy function of the molecule.

Key Amino Acids in Understanding Evolutionary Characterization of Mn/Fe-Superoxide Dismutase: A Phylogenetic and Structural Analysis of Proteins from Corynebacterium and Hosts

Authors: Alberto Oliveira1, Pammella Teixeira, Debmalya Barh, Preetam Ghosh and Vasco Azevedo

Abstract: Superoxide dismutases (SODs) are enzymes widely observed in nature and commonly studied to understand the protection of reactive oxygen species (ROS). This work aims to understand the conservation of and correlation among the enzymes from pathogens and hosts, using coevolution analysis of amino acids in Mn/Fe-Superoxide Dismutase.
