Dr. Xuexia Wang is an Associate Professor in Biostatistics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She has a strong background in statistical theory and statistical genetics. The overall goal of her research is to understand how genetic variation contributes to the etiology of complex diseases. Her primary objective is to develop statistical methods and computational tools for identifying and characterising genetic variants that influence susceptibility to complex traits. Her research work involves developing powerful statistical methods for gene-based association analysis, analysis of admixed populations such as African Americans, algorithms for detection of copy number variations, and analysis of the next-generation sequencing data.
