Dr. Lizette Leonie Koekemoer is an Associate Professor, Wits Research Institute for Malaria, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa and She received the Watkins-Pitchford prize for her first publication in 1998.Dr. Lizette Leonie Koekemoer obtained her PhD in 1999 at the University of the Witwatersrand working on the molecular systematics of African malaria mosquitoes and specifically the Anopheles funestus group. She participated in several University committees and is a C-rated scientist through the National Research Foundation (NRF). Dr. Lizette had supervised and co-supervised multiple post-graduate students at Hons, MSc, PhD and post-doctoral levels and has authored or co-authored over 90 scientific papers and has acted as reviewer for several scientific journals and granting agencies. The research findings have been presented at various local and international conferences. Research funding has been obtained from various local as well as international granting agencies.
