Abstract: Hyper-inflammation caused by COVID-19 is related to worsening of symptoms and, probably, to development of Postacute COVID-19 Syndrome, whose probable mechanisms contributing to the pathophysiology of post-acute COVID-19 include: Virus-specific pathophysiologic changes; immunologic aberrations and inflammatory damage in response to the acute infection; and sequelae of post-critical illness.
