Abstract: The oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is part of the routine management and readily detects impaired insulin secretion in the majority of adult patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). To assess an activity of endogeneous insulin on adipose tissue in these patients, we analyzed serum levels of insulin and free fatty acids (FFA) in response to oral glucose since glucose-induced insulin decreases FFA and thus, suppression of FFA reflects an insulin effect on adipose tissue.
