Dr. Jun Zhang is a Staff Scientist in Synaptic Physiology Section at National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, National Institutes of Health, USA. Dr. Zhang completed his Ph.D in Neurobiology and Histology from the University of Sichuan School of Medicine, Chengdu, China in the year 1997. He worked as an Associate Professor at Shanghai Institute of Physiology Chinese Academy of Sciences, China in the year 2000. Dr. Zhang worked as a Staff Scientist at Histopathology Core of National Eye Institute (NEI) from 2009 to 2011, in where he studied eye diseases, such as AMD, retinal degeneration. Dr. Jun Zhang research interest includes molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying synaptic transmission in the retinal circuits and glutamatergic pathway in the retinal ribbon synapse as well retinal degeneration diseases focusing on age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
