Dr. August Paul R is Vice President at ICAGEN and also head of the Department of Discovery Biology, Tucson Innovation Center in Tucson Arizona, USA. He received his M.S in the Department of Genetics from University of Connecticut in 1989 and Ph.D in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology from University of Minnesota in 1995. Dr. August Paul R's research interest includes working to advance the progression of a number of pre-clinical therapeutics in a variety of indications that includes rare neuromuscular diseases. Limited therapeutic treatments exist for these diseases, especially for muscular dystrophies and the mechanisms for employing cell therapy in these diseases in not well established.
