Dr. Mony Fraer is an Associate Professor at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. He received his MD from Grigore T Popa School of Medicine, University of Medicine & Pharmacy, Romania. Dr. Mony areas of research includes pivotal study to assess the safety and efficacy of a Selective Cytopheretic Device (SCD) in patients with Acute Kidney Injury, Study of Diabetic Nephropathy With Atrasentan and Efficacy and Safety of Finerenone in Subjects With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and the clinical diagnosis of diabetic kidney disease. The clinical part of Dr. Mony work involves all aspects of care for patients with kidney diseases (including transplant, kidney stones, hypertension and dialysis) both in an inpatient (at all 3 hospitals in the Iowa City area) and outpatient setting; and he also continue to have a general internal medicine inpatient exposure. From an administrative perspective Dr. Mony has been the medical director for dialysis at University of Iowa since 2015; in this role, he is responsible for the quality and safety, staff education and other aspects of the 7 dialysis units owned by the University; leadership skills in this job involve communication, negotiations across departments and with senior leadership.
