Dr. Jeffrey S Bedwell is working as an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at the University of Central Florida. Dr. Bedwell joined UCF in 2004 after completing his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Georgia, with a predoctoral clinical internship at the Medical University of South Carolina/Dept. of Veterans Affairs Consortium in Charleston, SC. Prior to his graduate studies, Dr. Bedwell received his B.S. in Psychology from James Madison University and then worked for several years in the Child Psychiatry Branch of the National Institutes of Mental Health conducting research on childhood-onset schizophrenia. Dr. Bedwell's research lab, the Psychophysiology of Mental Illness Laboratory, uses a transdiagnostic NIMH RDoC approach to examine the relationship between psychiatric symptoms commonly found in mood disorders (i.e., depressive and bipolar disorders) with psychophysiological and cognitive abnormalities. Dr. Jeffrey S Bedwell's research interests includes to improve treatment and prevention efforts targeted toward specific psychiatric symptoms, which include: anhedonia, apathy, grandiosity, reward sensitivity, and depressed mood.
