Dr. Jianying Zhang is an Associate Professor at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, USA. Dr. Zhang received her PhD in Clinical Pharmacology and Biochemistry in Japan. She has developed a series of biodegradable and biocompatible polyurethane scaffolds for bone tissue engineering applications. For Dr. Zhang's outstanding contribution in research, Dr. Zhang was awarded, Pitt Innovator Award thrice by the University of Pittsburgh. She extended her research from bone tissue engineering to tendon-bone junction repair and regeneration. Dr. Zhang first developed a protocol for isolating and characterizing tendon stem cells. Her research has resulted over hundred peer-reviewed research publications. She holds more than 35 patents and some of the products generated from her patents have been approved by the FDA (USA) and put into clinical practice. Dr. Zhang research interests focus on Orthopedic research, Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, Stem cell research, Biomaterial synthesis and medical application etc.
