Prof. Michael Saul Isaacson is working as Professor Emeritus and Director of the Center for Sustainable Energy and Power Engineering in the Baskin School of Engineering, University of California, USA. Prof. Isaacson has a B.S in Engineering Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an M.S and Ph.D in physics from the University of Chicago. He received several Awards that include Hertz Foundation Fellowship, a Sloan Foundation Faculty Fellowship, the Burton Medal from the Microscopy Society of America, an Alexander von Humboldt Senior Scientist Research Award, the Rank Prize in Optoelectronics and the Distinguished Scientist (Physical Sciences) Award from the Microscopy Society of America. Prof. Isaacson has several patents and has been a consultant to several industrial, academic and governmental organizations. Prof. Isaacson has published more than 160 articles and book chapters dealing with field emission, scanning and scanning transmission electron microscopy, etc.
