Dr. Amir Abbassi received his Ph.D. From University of North Texas, in 1998. Dr. Amir Abbassi, is an Associate Professor of Psychotherapy at Texas A&M University-Commerce(TAMUC). He also hold a position of Clinical Director at New Horizons Center for Healing (the most comprehensive mental health clinic in North Texas area). Dr. Abbassi's clinical background includes work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families and he was a college counselor for 15 years before joining the Department of Psychology, Counseling and Sp.Ed., at TAMUC. Dr. Abbassi is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Board-Approved Supervisor in Texas. He is also clinical member of American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and Board Certified Sex Therapist and Diplomat of American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT). His primary research interests include family violence, communication in marriage and marital satisfaction.
