Prof. Ponisseril Somasundaran is a Professor of National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Center for Particles and Surfactants Langmuir Center for Colloids and Interfaces, Columbia University, New York, USA. He is elected as a Chairman of the Henry Krumb School at Columbia University, as Chair of Department of Chemical Engineering, Material Science & Mineral Engineering in 1992 and 1995. He is the recipient of Antoine M. Gaudin Award (1982), the Robert H. Richards Award (l987), the Arthur F. Taggart Award for best paper (1987) of AIME, “Most Distinguished Achievement in Engineering” award from AINA. Prof. Ponisseril Somasundaran's research interests includes a wide spectrum of environmental problems including Greener Chemistry, (personal care & mining), enhanced oil recovery, oil spill, remediation, tar sands, coal cleaning, sludge treatment, waste water treatment (heavy metals), and nanotoxicity, Adhesive interactions, Interactions of Surfactants & Surfactant Mixtures, Mixed Surfactant Systems, Study of Conformations and Orientations of Polymers, Toxicity of Nano particles, etc.
