Dr. Bernhard Lieb is working as a professor at the Institute of Molecular Physiology, University of Mainz, Germany. His main work is focusing on the evolution, the differential expression, function and structure of molluscan hemocyanins at the gene-, mRNA- and protein level, and he is also working on the molecular analyses of the phylogeny in Mollusca. He has done his PhD on the "Characterization of a novel mRNA-associated protein from oocytes of Pleurodeles waltl and Xenopus laevis" with Prof. U. Scheer in Wurzburg. Thereafter, he moved to Mainz and habilitated at the Institute of Zoology at the JGU in Mainz, Germany. His work was and still is focused on the structure, evolution and function of molluscan hemocyanins. Dr. Lieb's research interests is on molecular, structural and fuctional analyses of Hemocyanins and differential expression during early development, in juveniles and also in adult animals.
