Dr. Vyacheslav Martemyanov is working as the staff senior researcher in Institute of systematics and ecology of animals of Siberian branch of Russian academy of science, Laboratory of ecological parasitology. After graduating his higher education in Novosibirsk state agrarian university he defends the PhD theses in entomology deal with forest defoliators. Dr Martemyanov worked in University of Turku on postdoctoral position (in 2006, 2008 years) increasing his skill in the phytochemestry of woody plants. The present area of interests is the interactions within trophic chains of economically important species of herbivorous insects. Particularly he studies the effect chemical defence of woody plants on insects physiology, on insects immunocompetence and on the interaction between insects and its main parasites (viruses, bacteria, parasitoides). He is also interesting in evolution of insect-parasite interactions using Lymantria dispar-nucleopolyhedovirus as the model. The spatio-temporal distribution of the defoliators' genotypes and its relation with the ability of population to induce the outbreak is also the area of his interests.
