Dr. Ruhul Kuddus attended University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, before receiving his doctoral degree in molecular genetics and biochemistry from University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He served as a research scientist at Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before joining the Biology Department of Utah Valley University (UVU), Orem, Utah, where is currently an associate professor. As a scientist and educator, he received various awards including the US Fulbright Scholar award, UVU International Center Outstanding Service award, UVU Faculty Scholar of the Year Award, UVU Center for study of Ethics Fellowship, and American Society for Microbiology Scholar in Residence. He has authored over 50 original research articles in biological and social sciences, several editorials/essays in daily newspapers, and two university-level textbooks, and edited three monographs on social sciences. He teaches molecular biology, microbiology, and immunology. His research includes population genetics of cancers, biotechnology transfer, and bioethics of religions. His book of poetry Choto Shahar Faridpur (The Township of Faridpur) was published in 2008. He served as a visiting professor at the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2011-2012.
