Dr. Michael Ernst Heinrich Fassbender is a senior radiochemist and separation scientist at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. He does have more than 20 years of experience in the areas of radionuclide production, nuclear data measurement and radioisotope separation science. Fassbender received his Ph.D. degree (Dr. rer. nat.) in chemistry and radiochemistry from the University of Cologne. After a two-year postdoc fellowship at iThembaLABS, South Africa, in the field of cyclotron radionuclide production, he accepted a postdoc position at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. He later became permanent staff and has taken on many technical, scientific and scholarly responsibilities within the US Department of Energy’s National Isotope Program since. Dr. Fassbender's research interests includes Accelerator and reactor production of Radionuclides, Design of large-scale recovery procedures forradioiso-topes, Development of radionuclide generator systems, Actinide production and separation, Nuclear reaction modeling, Measurement ofnuclear reaction data.
