Professor Jackson Chieh-Hsi Wu joined Taipei Medical University as dean and professor of Pharmacy in 2013. With a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Dean Wu has a strong academic background and diverse professional experience in Taiwan and the United States. Dean Wu received his Ph.D. degree in 1994 from Ohio State University, where he also worked as a Pharmacology research assistant and as an Internal Medicine postdoctoral fellow. He co-authored a conference paper on gene expression published in Society for Neuroscience. At the University of California in San Diego, he spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Bio engineering. His research interest on (1) Exploration of pivotal molecules involved in restenosis development by genomic and proteomic analysis, which help to identify the potential therapeutic targeting molecules or disease-specific bio markers for clinical diagnosis; (2) development of anti-angiogenic agents with multiple anti-cancer mechanisms and candidate compounds against drug resistance that help to reduce side effects of and drug resistance to first-line chemotherapy drugs.
