Dr. Guarnieri is an Adjunct Professor at Bologna University and at Center for Applied Biomedical Research (CRBA), St. Orsola-Malpighi University Hospital, Bologna, Italy. She received her Ph.D. at Bologna University in 1986. Dr. Guarnieri has expertise in cell biology, cell signaling pathways and networks. Dr. Guarnieri research focus is targeted on cellular and molecular events sustaining and modulating the phenotype of cancer cells. In particular, she is interested in elucidating the relationship between inflammation and cancer and the contribution of some cellular biosensors to the maintenance of the inflammatory state. She is also interested in NSAIDs modulating effects of cell proliferation, with a particular attention on cyclooxygenase/lipoxygenase inhibition and membrane-related events. She also conducted research in neurophysiology, with a particular attention for retinal neurotransmission.
