In 1990's, Prion disease was a topic in life science. Prion is the transmissible proteinous agents, resistant to proteases, it is very impressive as pathogen of neurodegenerative disease. By chance he got an opportunity to study "prion" in Dr Prusiner's Lab at UCSF as a postodoctoral fellow (1996-2000). After coming back to Japan, he started the extension of Prion, "Amyloid-beta in Alzheimer's disease" as his research interests.
