Dr. Hsien-Yuan Lane is the Director and Professor of Department of Psychiatry and Institute of Clinical Medical Science at China Medical University Medical College, Taichung, Taiwan. He has been devoted to translational studies and clinical trials, especially those on several NMDA-enhancing agents for treatment of various mental disorders and dementia. Dr Lane's group leads in clinical trials to show the efficacy of DAAO inhibitor (sodium benzoate in their trials) for treatment of schizophrenia and early-phase Alzheimer's disease, encouraging further development of novel compounds of these mechanisms and lending further support to glutamate hypothesis of Alzheimers disease.
