Dr. Krasimir Vasilev was educated as a chemical engineer at the University of Technology of Burgas, Bulgaria. After three years of experience in the petrochemical industry, in 2001 he commenced PhD at the Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany. Dr. Krasimir Vasilev was awarded PhD in 2004. After a short postdoctoral stay as a Marie Curie fellow at the Institute of Genomics and Molecular and Cellular Biology in Strasbourg, France, in 2005 he accepted a position of a Research Associate at the Ian Wark Research Institute, UniSA. In December 2007 he moved to Mawson Institute as a Research Fellow. Dr. Krasimir Vasilev was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in March 2009. In 2010, he was awarded an Australian Future Fellowship. He was promoted to Associate Professor in January 2012. Dr. Krasimir Vasilev have published more than 130 papers and 3 patents which have had a strong impact on the scientific community being cited more than 2750 times. His research interests and in advances materials engineering and particularly thin film technology, biomaterials, medical devices and nanotechnology.
