Dr. Iraj Kalkhoran is an Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. He specializes in high speed aerodynamics, aero-propulsion, aeroacoustics, shock wave dynamics and high-speed wind tunnel design and testing. He received his BS, MS and PhD degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1981, 1983 and 1987 respectively. His current research work addresses computational simulation of shock/vortex dominated flows, experimental and computational studies on novel jet-noise reduction schemes via fluidic injection and study of supersonic mixing enhancement. His research work has included topics such as supersonic shock wave and vortex dominated flows and the dynamics of supersonic vortex breakdown as a result of vortices interacting with shock fronts.
