Abstract: Healthy sleep in children looks much like healthy sleep in adults. Preschoolers, children aged between three and five years, typically need 10-13 hours of sleep per night. Generally, daytime naps cease after about five years of age. For this population, difficulty falling asleep and waking up during the night are common. This is generally attributed to the growing imaginations of this age group; larger and more complex imaginations create more powerful and disturbing nightmares.
