Abstract: Epileptic spasms (ES) is an age specific seizure disorder which is more frequent in infancy. Frequent untreated epileptic events have negative effect on development in ES patients so early diagnosis and appropriate treatments are key factors in management to avoid neurodevelopmental delay in survivors.

Abstract: Growing skull fracture (GSF) is a well-known complication of pediatric cranial trauma but its physiopathology has been, so far, only assumed. When the basic laws of hydraulics are applied to the underlying GSF pathology, a clearer understanding of the process involved in it emerges and accounts for the frequent spontaneous arrest of the skull erosion. Moreover the process causing the commonly associated intra-axial pathology is also better defined.

Abstract: Spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) is a rare occurrence, especially in children. In the pediatric population, three cases of Chiari malformation in children and no cases of hydrocephalus due to SIH have been discussed in the literature. We present two patients under the age of five who presented with imaging concerning for the need for neurosurgical intervention later found to be due to SIH that resolved spontaneously.

Abstract: Multi-system inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C) is a rare but severe complication of Covid-19 infection. The clinical presentation ranges from a mild course of systemic inflammatory response to a life threatening hyper inflammatory shock and multi organ dysfunction. Central nervous system presentation is seen in acute Covid-19 infection in adults but is rarely seen in children. We describe a case of MIS-C in a child who was admitted to our Pediatric Intensive

Abstract: We review 52 cases of presumed abusive head trauma (AHT) in children < 24 months of age admitted to a single center Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) between 2008 and 2017. Clinical variables were analyzed for association with neurological outcome ≥ 6 months post-injury using the Glasgow outcome score-extended for pediatrics (GOS-E Peds) and late seizures. Only patients with

Abstract: We reviewed the literature for pediatric patients infected with Naegleria fowleri (N. fowleri) to assess the relationship between patient survival and treatment with hypothermia. A systematic literature search was performed in PubMed to identify studies describing cases of pediatric N. fowleri infections. We identified 47 studies describing 55 pediatric patients

Abstract: Inflammatory pseudo tumors are uncommon lesions that may, on occasion, occupy the intracranial space. Their management is unstandardized. We present a case of skull-based inflammatory pseudotumor in a 14-year-old boy who presented with multiple cranial nerve palsies mimicking Gradenigo syndrome. This illustrative case and a review of the literature is presented to highlight noteworthy features of this rare condition.

Abstract: To describe four neonates with jerky movements of the limbs who were seen in University of Uyo Teaching Hospital between January 2014 to December 2018. They were all referred from other facilities for further management. The characteristics of the jerky movements were profiled and other confounding clinical states were excluded.

Abstract: Increased dopamine activity is thought to play a role in the pathophysiology of Tourette syndrome (TS). Since ketogenic diet (KD) is thought to change several neurotransmitter systems, we hypothesized that modified KD could be beneficial in treatment of tics.

Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown imposed by most of the governments because of it have affected most of us including children with complex care needs. Because of various reasons like changed routine and social isolation, the physical and psychological health of these children has affected.
