Abstract: Alzheimer's disease (AD) and frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) are two of the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorders, characterized by progressive cognitive decline and behavioral impairment. AD is the leading cause of dementia globally, while FTLD is the primary cause of early-onset dementia, particularly in individuals under 65. Despite clinical overlaps, these diseases differ in their pathological hallmarks, genetic underpinnings, and molecular mechanisms.
