Authors: Muhammad Babar Khawar, Naz Fatima, Muddasir Hassan Abbasi, Nadeem Sheikh, Hafiza Nabeela Amaan, Rabia Mehmood, Maryam Mukhtar, Amin Arif, Zaira Ahmad, Zerwa Siddique, Adil Farooq and Tahaa Saeed

Abstract: Lysosomes are the major catabolic entities that target a large number of biomolecules and pathogens as well. These cytoplasmic organelles play a substantial role in maintaining homeostasis with the aid of a vast assortment of its cathepsins. Cathepsins and its variants are reported to be involved in multiple physiological activities including apoptosis, coagulation, cell proliferation, immunity, and digestion, etc. These cathepsins are responsible for apoptosis leading to neuropathological changes and aging.
