Abstract: The use of SLN as carriers for drugs for topical administration has been highlighted due to advantages over chemical degradation protection of the formulation of the active, hydration (occlusion of the stratum corneum) and enhanced penetration of drugs in the different layers, and promote the sustained release with reduced systemic absorption and possess properties of photoprotection against UV light.

Abstract: Biosorption of thorium by Epicoccum nigrum biomass was determined at varying experimental conditions using a batch technique. High biosorption efficiency was observed for dead biomass 500 mg/50 mL of E. nigrum within 60 min of contact, at pH 6.8, temperature of 30 ℃ and agitation speed of 150 rpm with 150 mg/L as initial thorium concentration. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with electron dispersive X-ray (EDX) was used for characterization of the biosorbent agent after and before biosorption process to identify composition of elements of the dead biomass after and before biosorption of thorium.

Abstract: Nanoparticles functionalized with targeting ligands have been proposed as effective carriers for the selective delivery of diagnostic or therapeutic reagents to desired locations in the body. However protein coronas formed on the surface of such functionalized nanoparticles may affect their targeting efficiency when introduced into physiological environment.

Abstract: Quantum Dots (QD) have a broad potential in the development of imaging, diagnostic and drug-delivery tools. Due to the homeostatic composition of biological systems, any charge on the surface of QD may influence penetration through the cell and organelle membranes, thus changing their cytotoxic effects.
