Authors: Dr. Tarundeep Singh and Dr. Sathiabalan M

Abstract: Wastewater Based Epidemiology (WBE) postulates that through the analysis of population pooled wastewater, infectious disease, antimicrobial resistance spread and emergence of new disease outbreak to the community level can be monitored especially in resource constrained settings. Was the World Prepared for the Coronavirus Pandemic?

Authors: Nilson N Mendes Neto

Abstract: The panic caused by COVID-19 stems from uncertainty about the best methods to deal with the situation, in addition to the growing number of fake news released daily. No country in South America has a health system well prepared to deal with this new pandemic. There is still much scope for improvement in health systems around the world and the effects of this unpreparedness are reflected in the data that is released every day. Currently, many countries have used isolation as a method to prevent the rapid spread of the disease, and this fact alone can leave many in a panic.

Outbreak Management Scenario in Senior’s Residences

Authors: Benoit Samson

Abstract: In February 2020, Public Health authorities in Japan were the first to decide that cruise ship passengers infected or carriers of COVID-19 had to be quarantined on the ship. They did so with the consent of health authorities in many other countries who in fact soon had to do the same. Logically, they opted for the classic multi-centenary use of quarantine for any ship approaching our shores with passengers who could transmit their diseases to our populations.
