Prediction of 5-year Mortality in Invasively Managed NSTE-ACS Patients: Role of the Age, Creatinine, And Ejection Fraction (ACEF) Score

Authors: Farouk Boukerche, Leila Hammou and Nadia Laredj

Abstract: Long-term risk stratification in non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) by the ACEF score has not yet been assessed. The ACEF score (age/left ventricular ejection fraction +1 [if creatinine > 20 mg/l]) has been established in patients evaluated for coronary artery bypass surgery. This is a prospective observational study, including 196 NSTE-ACS patients with invasive management and completing a 5-year follow-up after hospital discharge. ACEF score was calculated at admission. The primary endpoint was 5-year all-cause death. The secondary endpoint was major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE).

Left Atrial Appendage Thrombus Resolution with Clopidogrel after Apixaban Failure: A Case Series

Authors: Katherine P Cabral PharmD, BCPS, BCCP, Krzysztof R. Drzymalski MD, George J. Joseph MD, and Augustin J Delago MD, FACC, FSCAI

Abstract: This hypothesis-generating, case series reviews the evidence available for managing left atrial appendage thrombus in patients already on therapeutic anticoagulation with apixaban. Our six patient cases highlight the first documented evidence of complete, accelerated clot resolution upon the addition of P2Y12 inhibitor, clopidogrel, to current therapeutic doses of apixaban.

Usefulness of The Syntax Revascularization Index and The Concept of Reasonable Incomplete Revascularization In "All Comers" Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

Authors: Hatem Najar, Tarek Krarti and Marouane Boukhris

Abstract: In particular settings, achieving complete coronary revascularization could be very challenging. The Syntax Revascularization Index (SRI) represents a useful tool to assess the degree of coronary revascularization in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This study aimed to assess the prognostic usefulness of the SRI in an “all comers” cohort of patients undergoing PCI.

Early versus Delayed Invasive Intervention in NSTE-ACS: Clinical Outcomes

Authors: Farouk Boukerche and Leila Hammou

Abstract: The aim of this study was to compare an early versus a delayed invasive strategy in NSTE-ACS prospectively. Prospective observational study including patients admitted for NSTE-ACS requiring an invasive management. The primary endpoint was the occurrence of MACCE (death, new myocardial infarction or stroke) at 30-days and 1-year follow-up.
