Abstract: Monitoring of trace organic contaminants in aquatic media has become a major concern today. The presence of Carbamazepine (CBZ), anticonvulsant and analgesic used in the treatment of pain associated with trigeminal neuralgia, has been reported in effluents from sewage treatment plants due to its low biodegradability.

Abstract: The results obtained during the study of mutations on the gene coding for the human prion protein showed that the only major consequence of mutations is the perturbation of the protein surface electrostatic potential which subsequently is responsible for the convergence of PrPc to PrPsc.
