A Systematic Review on the Pharmacologic Treatment of Apathy in Dementia

Abstract: Dementia is a neurocognitive disorder that causes functional impairment usually accompanied by neuropsychiatric symptoms. Majority of individuals with dementia suffer from behavioral dysfunction. Apathy, defined as presence of diminished initiative, interest and emotional expression, is a common neuropsychiatric symptom of dementia which currently has no established pharmacologic treatment.
