Check:

  • Pulse oximeter
  • BP (every 2 min)
  • Capnography
  • ECG

Optimal positioning:

  • Ramping in obese patient.
  • 30° head up for head injury
  • Neck immobilization for suspected C-spine injury

 

Good IV access with fluid running.

 

Adequate preoxygenation.

Check for Oxygen Supply.

Check for Airway equipment:

  1. Facemask
  2. Airway adjuncts
  3. Self-inflating bag
  4. 2 laryngoscopes
  5. Appropriate ET tubes
  6. Suction

Check for Drugs:

  1. RSI drugs
  2. Vasopressor
  3. Maintenance of sedation and paralysis

Prepare for difficult airway if anticipated:

  1. VDO laryngoscope
  2. LMA
  3. Cricothyroidotomy kit

Difficult airway trolley present.

 

Oxygenation plan in event of failed intubation.

 

Other specific problems anticipated?

Confirm roles:

  1. Intubate
  2. Drugs
  3. Cricoid pressure
  4. In-line stabilization (C-spine injury)
